PaperMarket

New scrapbooking store in Raffles City basement: PaperMarket!
It's the biggest scrapbooking store I've seen around so far! And everything is so inviting, it's hard to leave empty handed. All scrapbooking stores are very enticing, but somehow this is MORE, you know? Pricy though, so I only bought one thing. But believe me, you just want to bring the whole store home *drools*
I bought the most usable thing for me - pretty masking tape! And I'm such a sucker for packaging, this is in a ziplock bag!! Just like food from Muji. Which I know, seems silly for paper tape. But now your tape will never get dusty!
So pretty~!

Getting crafty, getting gay

Made pretty lanyards! =D Ribbon was bought at the scrapbook store, Made with Love, and all the other hooks buttons etc. were gotten at Spotlight =)=) Luckily i already have such a huge stash of embroidery thread at home.

Was surprisingly fun to make, not on my part, but his. You already know i love doing this kinda things, gives me a crazy high. Feel so pleased with it cos it's so pretty! =D=D Plus functional, bonus, lol. And the pink button that was supposed to be decorative ended up being functional too, cos it was sewn directly onto the press stud underneath. He was value-adding to the design, lol =D The whole matching lanyards thing is admittedly really gay, but never mind. Can't wait for more projects to come along! =D=D

Star Wars Origami

This one's for evelyn, if you're still reading this blog! And yeah, I saw your comment on that facebook picture, and YES, I REMEMBER IT! (i didn't wanna comment on it coz it would mean that the photo will appear in my news feed and people will go look at it) The photo made me laugh...it was SO long ago. Back when we had nothing like NPV and IRR and PPI to fret about.

What I'm gonna say next is nothing related to the original post topic, but since we're on the subject of MA...I was telling a friend last night about how our MA textbook is filled with alot of irrelevant dialogue. It's probably a strategic move by the authors to inject a bit of entertainment into an otherwise exceedingly dry accounting textbook. For example,

A: I have alot of questions about our company finances that I hope you can answer!
B: Sure, we're in great shape! Our bank loans will be paid off in a few months.
A: Wow! Fantastic!
Maddy: That's just awesome guys! Good work!
Kenneth: I can't believe I paid $52 for this!!

Atas is better than posh

Yayness!! Bought a crossword book at Times today after brunch. Was with Chan cos Maddy had to leave. We got the better but not posh one in the end, Maddy, so we went to Spotlight to buy pretty paper and Chan helped me wrap it! =D=D Happiness!! =D=D=D

I evidently had the right person with me. Handy with a blade and sharp creases! And it's not senget (? uh, not straight). Didn't realise until now how straight the positioning was. We shamelessly took over half the table at Spotlight, where they generally hold craft classes. But no one chased us away anyway, too busy painting sinister dolphins, so yay!
So mysterious, nobody will know what book I'm reading! And I won't even know which is the front page! The excitement will kill me.
Prettiest crossword book around! =D=D Think I'm gonna use die hardener on the corners of the book so they won't get smushy. Chan said if I used die hardener on the entire book, I'd get a hardcover book for the price of a paperback -_-
Then I had all these scraps of pretty cardpaper, whereby a brilliant idea hit me.
Pretty magnetic bookmarks!! =D=D=D I had these magnet strips lying around at home, and I've been meaning to make myself some for a long time now, just couldn't think of what design. Must paint die hardener on this too. Think I'm floating from all the happiness =D=D=D Come and look for me Chan, I made you one too!

Fright night props

We made this life-sized effigy for fright night. It'll be wrapped in white cloth à la muslim burials, then dropped onto the unsuspecting. Thanks to aramia's vision, what was something of much improvisation became really goodlooking! You can't tell from these photos, cos we touched up a bit more after this, but he looks really realistic. Great contours everywhere, especially the shoulder blades and butt. Wish you guys could see it, dudes, i'll try to get a picture of the back.

Cute stuff

Liane bought these from HongKong! Chocolate band-aids and marshmallow pads, lol. The packaging is ultra realistic!
You can see the gauze bit in the chocolate! They even tried to make the brand name sound similar!! Sofy! The inside isn't as fantastic though, just 4 pieces of marshmallows, didn't try to make it look like a pad. I'll be super impressed if they did man, can unfold lol.And lastly, the full set of paper clips =D

Getting ready for fall (not really)

Cute new pencil case for the new school year! Early for once, I am. But it was really because the fabric was so cute, I had to get it and do something with it! Bought it at Spotlight when I was checking out fabrics for costumes with Aramia the other day. Not the cheapest place, I know, but it's so pretty ain't it! =) Hurhur, I feel so pleased with it, 'specially cos my last pencil case was nice, but a shitty kinda green. This one makes me feel all happy and fuzzy inside! Yay, can't wait to bring it out! =D

Crochet Toys

Been in a sorta weird emo mood these days...but these colourful adorable crocheted toys certainly brought a smile to my face! I think my favourites are the crab, horned beetle, hotdog (with mustard) and cheeseburger. Think the glue is really random.

Need to stop thinking so much! Tralalala...Need to listen to more happy gay songs from Apples In Stereo. We need sleepover soon! So we can make use of your new speakers and bake things and do stupid things. And so we can rant on about our usual girlish complaints and you can diao me and not indulge me in my emo rants.

Energy - Apples in Stereo

And the world is made of energy
and the world is possibility
and the world is made of energy
and there's a light inside of you
and there's a light inside of me.

And the world is made of energy
and the world is synchronicity
and the world is made of energy
and there's a light inside of you
and there's a light inside of me.

It’s gonna be all right
It’s gonna be all right uh huh yeah.
We’re gonna see the sunlight
We’re gonna see the sunlight uh huh yeah.

I <3 Tooth

This is what we've been doing for the last few lab sessions, burring practice. My 1mm-deep heart and cylinder that got chipped at the edge (high speed drills need a light hand =p) And the 2mm-square trapezoid below. Tooth art anyone? =)

Weasley Clock

This thing I found on craftster should be pretty exciting for any HP fan...(note the 7 hands, and various activities like "hospital", "prison") Read the entire post about the weasley clock over here.

Look at what I had for breakfast this morning! Plain omelette, raisin pancakes and fresh kiwi!

Happy Birthday Singapore!

Well, it seems like everyone felt like cooking today. My brother made his crab cakes, my aunt cooked dong po rou (i don't know what it is, but i like it!), and my other aunt made orange-chocolate marble cake. I love swirly cakes, somehow swirls just look so much prettier on cake! And after yesterday's cedele cupcake, I felt like having more orange icing, so the less prettily swirled cupcakes got a layer =) This must be the season for fantastic oranges or something, it's super sweet and just-slightly-tart, my favourite kind!

And I was productive too. I made myself a new back-to-school pencil case with cute fabric from my grandma's scrap stash =) I think the lining's really cute, haha. Note to anyone doing this for the first time, don't sew too close to the zipper, because although it looks really neat, the fabric will get caught when zipping and unzipping. I had to rip out my very first attempt due to this =(

DIY Home Makeovers! - Part Deux

Last Saturday: We've added on a bit more to Chan's wall as you can see. We also painted the wall opposite in cream, but haven't painted any pictures yet. Well, this is far from over! Lots more things that we'd like to add in, so keep an eye out for this project =)

Origami Night

We had big plans, such big plans for Origami Night. Which was the same day as Chan's wall-painting by the way. There were minor little disappointments, like Chan not getting the invite, and well, not doing much origami after all, haha. But all in all, I think it was pretty fun, don't you? =D And we finished (okay, I finished) most of the food! The food turned out not too bad, especially the sushi rice. And the green tea cookies were surprisingly nice =) Surprising because they weren't as pretty as we expected, haha. Oh! Which reminds me, I don't have any pictures of the cookies (possibly because they weren't pretty), Maddy, do you?
Discussions for the big day at TCC, where we tried a bit of origami between coffee and wedges. We wanted to make a little surprise for you guys, Chan, Chee, but it didn't quite work out =p I won't go into details, but you can see the stuff below. On the other hand, the chopsticks weren't wasted, haha. Maddy, I still think we can try again another day, haha. I see what you mean about chains being a better option now.

Prodding the green tea cookie dough (which Maddy claims is really delicious) to make sure it's firm enough to roll out. Well, it wasn't for very long, the mini cookie cutters were hell to use because the cookie dough was so soft and sticky. In the end we gave up and made ball/spiral cookies. The cookies expanded anyway, but they looked really chinese.
The ingredients for our sushi.
The whole spread! Looks quite nice yes? Soba noodles, sushi, green tea shortbread cookies, japanese snacks, miso soup, green tea and cherries. And japanese themed cutlery too =)

I think all the origami that happened were the boxes that chee folded to hold the cookies and snacks, and the frogs and waterlilies that Maddy and Chan made. Oh well, haha. Another time then.
