HELLO WORLD!! I am typing this from a hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark! Managed to rig my laptop up to the internet using the LAN cable and decided to just say hi to all you guys in Singapore. It's currently pretty late, 12:43am...so I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves. After loading the pictures, I still have to go do my journal for the BSM. It's graded!!

Hort Park
These photos are from the visit i made in december. HortPark is such a pretty place, and surprisingly big! Up on the hill and hidden amongst the towering industrial buildings, it feels very quiet and peaceful, a little spot hidden away from the rest of the world. So much so that we went back again the next sunday evening, just to lie on the lawn and read a book =) It really doesn't feel like you're in singapore anymore! Think it's gonna be a popular place on my relax-and-do-nothing list.
One cool thing about the place is that they've got many differently themed little gardens like the cacti garden, the asian garden (grass planted in the yin-yang symbol!) etc. And it's quite a brilliant thing, because they get all the different landscaping companies to sponsor (i'm assuming) a garden however they want it, so HortPark gets free designers and maintenance and plants, and the companies get free advertisement. Everybody's happy =) And i must say, they did a really impressive job, not only with the blooms but also the designs. Pretty interesting.

Bumper Edition
I'd prefer to refrain from using cliches in this blog, but it's quite apt to begin this post by with the phrase, "Time flies". Can't believe its already the end of week 4...soon it'll be midterm, then exams, then hols, then new term...repeat. Since I have some time now before heading off to nus ucc for chee's dance concert (and having already completed my assignments for the week -- yay productivity), I shall post random pics to chronicle my past few weeks.Awesome lighting at esplanade's concert hall for the dcfc concert. Funny incident: chris and I spent the bulk of our time laughing at this guy directly in front of me who was very very very high throughout the concert. Like, he kept bobbing up and down quite rigorously and screaming out lyrics at the top of his voice. About halfway thru the thing, i suddenly realise, HOLY SHIT i know that guy! Haha..it was kevin and then the overenthusiasm made so much sense.
Met lotsa jc ppl there, including shib who came up to me and said, "I KNEW I would see you here!" We met up recently and she recalled how i was the one who introed ben gibbert to her. Like years ago when she came over to my place and was looking thru my cd collection. I believe tt was during the whole omg-i-love-seth phase. The people who have become a gigantic part of my life -- in a scary yet heartwarming way.
Um...these nails only lasted for a few hours on me. I went straight home to take them off. Too bright, too bright...Very pontianak-y.
Friend, may you one day be ready enough to meet THE MENTOR. Haha...the title is Thai Horror Film-worthy. Some people you'll have to wait for, but you will never have to wait for me. LOL. ;)
This was the random spontaneous 3V reunion...cons was there earlier too. Interestingly enough, even without bx being there, she managed to take up quite a substantial amount of our conversation. Above you have future lawyers, doctors, dentists, biz women. We didn't do too bad afterall. Not too shabby. Koh siew yong should be proud.
Word of advice: Never ever go for fish foot therapy. It is a complete waste of money. It was definitely not relaxing, and my foot didnt feel significantly smoother after the session. The first 10 minutes of sitting in the tub was ridiculously tortuous. The feeling of dozens of little fish nibbling at your toes...is not a pleasant feeling. And after a half hour of staring at the tiny fish darting around the pool - I became slightly dizzy and nauseous. We had to take our minds off the queer ticklish sensations by having very insightful conversation about school, friends, love, travel, camping...so on.
Everyone's flying off again. Why so fast!!

Chee's Day
Hey folks, here are the pictures, as promised. I've been trapped at home, nursing my crazy illness (it began disguised as an innocent sorethroat, then escalated into a fever/headache, evolved into a flu-like coughing and sniffing, and today it climaxed into a frantic coughing-my-guts out kind of thing). Finally found some time to upload these photos. Blogger needs to invent a facebook-style photo uploader, it would make things alot easier for me.

My Little Attempt
This is my little attempt at injecting some form of life back into this sad neglected blog.
My life has been revolving around these few people for the past week. Here we are at Ice Cold B's...I can't wait to complete our project and for this whole crazy term to end. But I'm definitely gonna miss all the shit that we went through together. The times we spent staying in school till 1am+, partying to "Closing Time" in the library project room... The quiet drives home, windows down with self-recorded music blasting from the stereo.
umm...Cheers! Haha.

Ann Siang Hill
So recently, the madegg duo (yes, us together again) finally got down to exploring the Ann Siang Hill district. The shopping guide from fashionisspinach.com was pretty helpful. Though I would have much preferred if it came with clearcut maps and pictures...hmm..you know what? It'd be an interesting new project to work on! The Illustrated Guide to ____(insert cool place)___ in Singapore.
Rather than taking a gazillion majillion photos of touristy landmarks or nonsensical candid shots, we decided to have a photo-theme! As you might have already guessed from the image below, our theme was Patterns! So we set off on our little tour of this mysterious neighbourhood (well, mysterious to us goondus anyway), scanning up and down for eyecatching patterns to snap pictures of.
Enjoy the visual feast... We found patterns everywhere! On vegetation, building designs, wall-tiles, floor-tiles, posters, notebook covers, drain covers, furniture, door grills...etc. ! It certainly gave our aimless tour much more meaning and some short-lived excitement, haha.
We managed to find all the suggested places, like The Asylum, Style:Nordic, Front Row, Vanilla Home and even had sparetime to drop by the much publicised independent bookstore BooksActually at Telok Ayer Street. There's something very special about being in these places and just soaking up the atmosphere. It's like an open invitation into the enigmatic mind of the owner. A quick glance would leave you wondering why the heck all these random objects are being sold in the same store (e.g. local literature and polaroid cameras in BooksActually, vintage children's books and apple corers in The Asylum). But once you start to soak up the atmosphere, you begin to realise that there's a very personal and unique invisible thread linking up every item in each store.
***************************
I really like how Red Dot has such a great colour. Eye-catching, but not headache-inducing bright and flashy.
Halfway there! Some Chinatown-looking place.
Ann Siang Road! Actually, not really. This was taken at the end of our journey, at some other road. But you know, a row of shophouses looks like another haha =) What made the Ann Siang shophouses different from the rest, in my opinion at least, was that they all had very Peranakan-looking tiles decorated on the outside. Okay, i don't know if Peranakan's the word i'm looking for, but you know what i mean, you've seen the collage. And they had such a variety of designs and were really well preserved. I thought that was pretty cool, a slice of historical Singapore in a way =)
And that draws a close to the Ann Siang Road journey =) One major spot we missed was The Patissier though! It's been strongly recommended for its cakes. Definitely a must-visit for the next time!
