HELLO FROM COPENHAGEN

HELLO WORLD!! I am typing this from a hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark! Managed to rig my laptop up to the internet using the LAN cable and decided to just say hi to all you guys in Singapore. It's currently pretty late, 12:43am...so I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves. After loading the pictures, I still have to go do my journal for the BSM. It's graded!!

Offshore wind turbines from Vestas that we saw from the window of our descending plane.

Little cities in Lego Land, built entirely out of lego bricks!

Beautiful bright flowers from Lego Land!

Open sandwiches at Lego's Headquarters. It's ALOT longer than it appears in this picture. There's fruits, veggies, eggs, caviar, shrimp, tomatoes and all kinds of interesting things on the sandwich.

We were also fed with these heavenly cinnamon rolls!

Scandinavian home with a huuuuge lawn. They have a trampoline!!

My favourite picture from today. I took a photo of a huge dandelion I saw when our bus to Copenhagen stopped by a  roadside area for a toilet break.

This duck has a green head with a white stripe around his neck! Just like in the illustrated storybooks!

A hot air balloon built entirely out of lego bricks!

Anyway, just decided to blog a little since I have free wifi at this hotel. My roommates are all asleep already, but I'm staying up for another hour or so to catch Adam Lambert streaming live on the internet. I'm can't wait to visit hippie town Christiana tomorrow! Yay!

I M Fat

My bro just came into my room to show me the shirt he bought and it made me giggle. Not because the shirt itself is funny, but mostly the fact that he actually did use to be quite fat, and probably because of McDonalds.

We spent about 10 minutes trying to get the perfect picture. I'm only supposed to put up this final picture:

But because I'm an annoying older sister, I'm gonna post the rest of the bad photos that are supposed to go into my computer's recycled bin.

"Hey! Can I take a photo of that and put it on my blog?"

"K, I was just about to ask you to take a picture so I can use it as my facebook profile pic."

"OMG I look like a retard."

"Pants too poofy! Damn gay! Can you change into jeans or something?"

"Ok" *runs upstairs*

"Your face looks weird...can you smile more naturally? Think of Borat!!"

"Okay, you look silly. Maybe you should try to act cool and NOT smile. Close your mouth. And put your hands in your pocket."

"Wah Lau like modelling liddat!"

"Just do it"
"I'm gonna post ALL the photos we just took in my blog."

"NOO. I look like a retard!!"

"Only my friends will see it what.."

Revamped Bookshelf

So after an entire week of procrastinating, I finally got down to revamping the boring old bookshelf in my room. It's something that I've been meaning to do since months ago, but never had the time to due to the hectic school schedule + Operation GPA. Before I talk about my bookshelf, may I just announce to the world that Operation GPA was a great success! My grades jumped way beyond my expectations...pulling my cumulative gpa up by 0.27 points -- which is a cause for celebration! Now, I am a bit more hopeful about graduating with some kind of "credit" and also less doubtful, more confident of my own intellectual/academic capabilities. It's quite a miracle, considering many of the extra commitments I had this past term (e.g. RA/TA commitments).

Anyways, on to the shelf. Basically, I have this ugly old bookshelf in my room that holds all my textbooks, reference books, notes, handouts, notebooks, etc. And I wanted to give it a fresh new look. If you know me well enough, you should know that I love to paint things in my room/decorate my room. My bedroom walls have undergone several design changes. From plain white, to whimsical kid sillouhettes, to white/light purple chunks, to white/light purple chunks with random quotes and frame designs in black. My toilet dresser has a stenciled design done with light purple paint. I decided it was about time to give the ugly old bookshelf a makeover.

Materials:
  • Off-white paint (this was leftover paint from my last painting project)
  • Painting tools, e.g. big brushes, small brushes, rollers, paint tray
  • Fancy wrapping paper (i got mine on discount from prints)
  • Tape (to secure the wrapping paper to the shelf)
After two coats of paint, I pasted the pretty paper onto the back of the shelf and yay! New shelf. Painting the bottom third of the shelf required some skilful contorting of my body into awkward positions. Good thing I had practise from dance. Here's the shelf (empty) sitting in front of  my bed...
And here's the shelf with things on it! Maybe you'll recognize some of these books. There's Campbell, Kotler & Armstrong, Coon & Mitterer, Sloman, Mauder, Ramsden, and the ubiquitous McGraw-Hill books.
