Freddie Mercury Google Doodle

Best Google Doodle so far in my opinion. They need to make more musical tributes!

Breathing life

We are still alive and we plan to breathe life back into this corner of cyberspace. One of us has started working and the other is going to grad school.

Having been away from this blog for almost two years, I only just discovered that blogger has a feature that allows us to analyze the stats for our blog. Now, time for some data analysis. Our top posts of all time are: 1. Origami - The Art of Paper Folding, 2. You can call me at 10:59 but..., 3. Yue Guang Xia De Feng Wei Zhu. Top search words: 1. yue guang xia de feng wei zhu, 2. wan shi lu yi, 3. you can call me at 10:59. We have 357 pageviews from Russia (why???), 198 from the US and 154 from Singapore. Other countries that have visited our blog are: Netherlands, Ukraine, Iran, France, Germany, UK, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, Mexico. I am completely amazed at the global reach of our humble blog.

It's been awhile our friends...stay tuned!

It's official

I haven't posted here in agesss, so here's an update on the major things happening in my life. I'm going to the US next Spring, it's official. Air tickets have been bought. I'm flying off in December, on the 25th with my family. We'll be arriving in LA, then spending about a week in california. After that, my family is flying back and I'm heading on to the university of florida. I'm planning to take some cool general ed-type courses (the kind they don't have in schools here, e.g. anthropology), so I'm sure that'll be fun! My advisor also managed to rig me up with lots of amazing research opportunities there so I am super excited. Academics aside, I'm definitely planning to travel a bit, e.g., various cities in florida, surrounding islands, mexico (?), northeastern states.

That said, I'll probably be starting a blog to keep you updated on my life in the US. So remember to ask me about it! I promise to keep it interesting :)

p.s. I am blogging in class now as a group presents. My group presented earlier this morning. I'm still surprised we managed to wing it without any group meetings, and with 2 completely MIA groupmates (we suspect one of them died because he did not respond to any emails, meet any deadlines, and best - he didn't even turn up today).

PaperMarket

New scrapbooking store in Raffles City basement: PaperMarket!
It's the biggest scrapbooking store I've seen around so far! And everything is so inviting, it's hard to leave empty handed. All scrapbooking stores are very enticing, but somehow this is MORE, you know? Pricy though, so I only bought one thing. But believe me, you just want to bring the whole store home *drools*
I bought the most usable thing for me - pretty masking tape! And I'm such a sucker for packaging, this is in a ziplock bag!! Just like food from Muji. Which I know, seems silly for paper tape. But now your tape will never get dusty!
So pretty~!

Muse + Adam Lambert = YES!!

My favourite Jewish boy is back with a stripped-down version of Muse's Starlight. He's got the Elvis-do, the black nail polish, the eyeliner, the Eye of Ra tattoo, the sexy black boots, the sexy black tights...totally rockin' it (except for a few pitchy errors at the beginning of the song).

Muse - United States of Eurasia

This is the leaked single from Muse's latest album (out in September!) There's some glaringly obvious Queen-influences, especially with the whole rock "orchestral" thing. But i thought the random classical piano rendition of Chopin was an interesting touch, and the mysterious middle-eastern flavoured melodic interludes.

Youtube comment:"people arent understanding this song. this is supposed to show the influences from all over the world. queen is obviously the influence from the USA, chopin is the influence from europe, plus you can hear the influence from the middle east, and finally the chanting at the end is an influence from russia. it was a genius idea of muse to show all of the influence from all over the world. awesome job muse!"

Makes sense! LOL!
